Blake Carey

I’m Blake, a professional trombonist and private brass instructor based on Long Island. I studied Jazz Performance at New York University and have spent the past six years performing professionally while teaching private students. I have performed at prestigious venues and festivals including the Newport Jazz Festival in Newport, Rhode Island, the Blue Note in New York City, and the Great South Bay Music Festival in Patchogue, New York.

My musical background spans jazz, classical music, and contemporary styles including pop and funk. That range allows me to work with students with various goals—from developing strong fundamentals and musicianship to preparing for auditions, performances, and advanced ensemble work.

I specialize in NYSSMA preparation and have helped students build a strong track record of successful performances and evaluations. I also work with long-term students who want to steadily improve their tone, technique, reading, range, confidence, and overall musicianship.

I offer in-home lessons throughout Long Island as well as remote instruction for students who prefer to study online.
